Kunming is the largest city in the Yunnan Province and is also the capital city of the province and can be found in the south west of China. Like the city of Guilin, Kunming is a prefecture-level city and acted as a Chinese military centre during World War II.

Things to do and see in Kunming
There are plenty of things to do in Kenming that range from enjoying the stunning landscape around the city and seeing some of the historical sites within the city itself.
The Stone Forest is one of the natural wonders that stand around the city of Kunming and is officially a World Heritage Site. This along with sites such as the Kunming Dragon Gate, the Dongchuan Red Land and Green Lake are beautiful to visit and explore when relaxing away from the city of Kunming.
If you are looking for something different there are places such as the Yunnan Nationalities Village, the Yunnan University, the Kunming Xishan Forest Park and the Yunnan Nationalities Museum that all offer unique experiences that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Best time to visit Kunming
Kunming is beautiful to visit all year round, the “Spring City” having a mild enough climate to be enjoyed no matter what the season. The best time to visit for enjoying the natural splendour of the outdoors is during the dry season between November and April though it is not as warm as the wet season, the sunnier and drier weather more than makes up for the lower temperatures.
Kunming is one of the few cities in China that experiences a low-latitude monsoon climate and is known as the “Spring City” meaning that it is lucky enough to have blooming flowers and green foliage all year round.
Summer in Kunming
Summer in Kenming is wet and hot, with temperatures averaging around 21 degrees Celsius during the day and the temperature during the nights rarely dropping below 12 degrees Celsius. The summer months for Kenming also fall during the rainy season that mean there is a high likelihood of rain.

The rainy season runs from May to October and sees the temperature dropping quite sharply with the rain even during July when temperatures average a daily high of 21 degrees Celsius you may still need a coat in order to keep out the chill of the rain.

What to pack and wear in Kunming?
During the rainy season carrying a coat with you at all times is something that is necessary to carry to cope with the drops in temperature though during the summer months of June to August wearing light clothing should be more than enough due to the warm temperatures.
Very thick clothing is not necessary to wear in Kunming at any time of the year as the winter temperatures are so mild, though you may want to take so long clothes for October through March to cope with the mild weather.
