Luxor is a city that can be found in the southern area of Egypt and is the capital of the Luxor Governorate and is situated on the banks of the River Nile.

When is the best month to visit Luxor?
The best time to visit Luxor is during December, January and February as the climate is at its most pleasant with temperatures reaching a high of between 23 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius on average. There is generally no rain in December and January with an average of 2mm of rainfall in February.
Though they day time temperatures are still warm and the skies are still clear, the night time temperatures can be very cool dropping down to a low of between 5 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius.
Climate in Luxor
Luxor has a subtropical desert low-latitude arid hot climate which means that the temperatures remain warm all year round with very little rainfall. There are only two distinct seasons in Luxor, a hot summer and a mild winter.
There is very little humidity in Luxor, but the extremely high temperatures during the summer months still mean that the heat can be very uncomfortable.
Summer in Luxor
This is the hottest time of year in Luxor with temperatures ranging between an average high of 39 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius. Though there is a millimetre or two of rain during May, June July, August and October but the amount is so minimal it will not force you indoors and out of the sunshine or cause you to need an umbrella.
July and August are the hottest month of the year with night time lows of between 20 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius.
Winter in Luxor
Temperatures ranging between 23 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius on average in the winter months and with the exception of February, March and April the winter months are without rainfall. Winter begins in November and ends in April.
The night time temperatures get much colder in the winter than they do in the summer with the extreme low of 5 degrees occurring in January, the coolest month of the year.
What to pack and wear in Luxor?
During the day all year round, light clothing is more than enough with the heat from the arid climate, however due to the amount of dust and sand that is around light colours aren’t recommended.
On some days during the winter months and during the winter evenings you will need to have longer and slightly warmer clothing in order to cope with the cooler temperatures.
