Los Cristianos Holiday Weather Overview
Los Cristianos is a town in Spain situated on the south coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife. It is located in the municipality of Arona between the cone of the mountain Chayofita and the greater mountain Guaza.
The town centre is around the Los Cristianos bay, but is rapidly expanding inland with modern development. Los Cristianos is one of the most popular and busy resorts on the Canary Islands.
For many years this holiday hub was a quiet fishing village and evidence of its humble origins can still be seen in the typical Canarian architecture of the older buildings. The town offers a holiday experience, with two black volcanic sand beaches, a multitude of bars and restaurants and its year round sunny climate. There is a wealth of accommodation to suit all budgets, including hotels, self-catering apartments and timeshare resorts. There are also a wealth of excursions focused around the town's busy port including dolphin and whale watching as well as game fishing trips and party cruises.
Los Cristianos is home to two popular beaches: The main beach Playa de Los Cristianos is a sandy beach sheltered by the Harbour and boasts a number of facilities including watersports, beach volley ball, showers and a children's play area. Las Vistas Beach is located in the next bay beyond the harbour and is man-made, protected by break-waters, it also boasts a number of facilities including watersports, showers and a tourist information site.
There is also a rocky, black-sand beach in the "Rincón" area of Los Cristianos, (between the headland near the Puerto Viejo and the cliffs of Montaña Guaza.)
The beaches are beautiful and it has a harbour that offers fishing trips, pleasure cruises, outings on glass bottom boats, diving excursions and ferries to the neighbouring island of La Gomera. It was once an old fishing town that over the years has experienced major expansion, making it a popular choice for an enjoyable day trip. Many holidaymakers stay in quieter resorts and visit Los Cristianos for the buzz before heading back to their retreat elsewhere on the island. Click here to see our selection of hotels in Tenerife.
Much of the action centers on the pedestrian area which borders the beach. This long promenade is a haven for good quality restaurants, bars and cafés that offer food from around the world as well as typical Canarian dishes. By night, it lights up as one of the busiest places in the south of Tenerife, together with nearby Playa de las Américas.
Away from the beaches and promenade area, you will discover a labyrinth of shops including boutiques, designer labels and other great places to pick up a bargain, with numerous cafés and bars scattered amongst this shoppers’ paradise.
Nearby attractions include Aqualand and the fantastic Siam Park, one of Europe’s most spectacular water parks with an amazing range of exciting slides and thrilling rides.
