Fes Holiday Weather Overview
Fes is the most complete medieval Arab city in the world, and its extraordinary old town, or medina, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Climate of Fes
Although you might expect Fes to be hot all year round, like much of the rest of Morocco, its position near the Atlas Mountains brings it a Mediterranean climate and it can be surprisingly cold and wet in the winter months.
Spring in Fes
Spring comes early to Fes and in March you can already expect daily highs of 20°C. Overnight, however, the temperature will fall dramatically to around 7°C catching out many visitors. If you're visiting Fes in the summer, take a hat and lots of sunscreen, as well as lightweight clothing. If you find it too hot, you can escape to the nearby mountains where the air will be cooler - but it's important to remember to drink plenty of water in order to stay hydrated.
Autumn in Fes
September, October and November are also popular months to visit Fes, as the heat dies down to a more bearable level - average highs of 29°C in September fall to around 20°C in November. As autumn progresses, however, the weather will turn increasingly chilly at night, and rain is much more common - you can expect to see around 4 inches of rain in November.
If you're visiting Fes in the autumn, take layered clothing in order to account for the changing temperatures. Remember that the nights will be cooler than you think.
Winter in Fes
Winter is Fes' coldest and wettest season, and it can be quite overcast and grey at times. Daily highs will fall to around 16°C in January, but it's the night time temperatures which really plummet, down to around 3°C. When it's not raining, however, the sunny, clear days are beautiful, and this is a good time to experience authentic Fes as not many tourists visit during the winter months.
