Tulum Holiday Weather Overview
Tulum is a popular tourist destination on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. The town is famous for its well preserved Maya ruins, which sit on a towering cliff right above the turquoise sea. Tulum is also well known for its beautiful beach.
Nearby, visitors can view the ruins of Coba, or take a trip into the wilderness of the Sian Ka’an biosphere reserve. There’s a great deal to do in the area, which makes it a popular year round destination. Tulum can, however, be badly hit during hurricane season.

Officially, Tulum has a tropical savannah climate. This makes for a pronounced dry season however, the temperatures are hot all year round, and there is minimal seasonal variation in temperature.

Expect average daily temperatures of around 31°C, with overnight lows of 21°C. June and September see a fair amount of rain, although July and August are considerably drier.
If you visit Tulum in the summer, take an umbrella and waterproof shoes in addition to lightweight summer clothing and beach wear. Strong winds can sometimes make bathing unsafe - pay attention to local warnings.

October and November form Tulum’s autumn period. This is a popular time to visit as the post-hurricane breezes take the edge of the heat, and the rain dies down too. If you’re visiting Tulum in the winter, pack for a beach holiday, but be prepared to jostle for space on the beach.
Tulum in Spring
Tulum’s brief spring period falls in March and April, and this is the driest part of the year, with scarce rain and strong sunshine. Daily highs of 31°C and overnight lows of 20°C are in tune with the rest of the year’s temperatures, but with little rain and few breezes, it can feel too hot to make the most of the area’s exceptional beauty and history.
