Cascais Holiday Weather Overview
Cascais, once a humble fishing village, is now one of the richest areas of Portugal. A popular holiday destination, it lies just a few miles from Lisbon and has several picturesque beaches.
With its cobbled streets and ruined castle, the town has an interesting history and varied cultural offerings, including museums and galleries. Cascais is a good base for exploring this area of Portugal, and it's also popular with sports enthusiasts - there are many good golf courses in the area, and the conditions are also ideal for wind surfing and kitesurfing.

Cascais has a subtropical climate with hot summers and very mild winters - some of the warmest in Europe, in fact. Most rainfall occurs in the winter months, and sunshine levels are good throughout the year.
Cascais in Spring
Spring is a very good time to visit Cascais if you want to avoid the summer crowds. Spring comes early to this part of Portugal, and in March the average highs are already reaching 19oc. By mid May, temperatures in the mid 20s are very pleasant indeed. Although you may see a few spring showers, rainfall in the spring shouldn't trouble you unduly, and this is the ideal season for active pursuits and sports, before it gets too hot.
Cascais in Summer
Summer is the peak tourism season in Cascais, and the glorious summer weather plays a huge part in that. With almost 12 hours of sunshine a day and very little rain, you can expect average daily highs of 27-29°C between June and September.
Occasionally the temperature will creep up to closer to 40°C, which can be uncomfortable, but sea breezes help to take the edge off the heat. Summer nights are balmy at 18-20°C, which is perfect for outdoor dining.
If you're visiting Cascais in the summer, take a hat and plenty of sunscreen, plus lightweight summer clothing. Don't bother with the umbrella - you're unlikely to catch a shower.
Cascais in Autumn
Since September counts as summer in Cascais, autumn doesn't really begin to take effect until mid to late October. Average daily highs in October are 22°C, falling to 18°C in November. It's in the night time temperatures that you will really notice the difference - average lows of 11°C can feel distinctly cool.
Rainfall starts to increase in the autumn months too, so you might want to take an umbrella. By and large, however, autumn is a pleasant season for exploring Cascais.

Those famously mild Cascais winters mean average daily highs of around 16°C throughout, with plenty of sunshine. Although winter is the wettest season, the rain usually clears away quickly, leaving dry clear days. Winter nights can feel cool at 10°C, however, so bring something with long sleeves if you're planning to visit Cascais in the winter.
